Hurricane Response
Dear Grace Fellowship Brothers & Sisters in Christ,
Thank you for your interest in assisting those affected by Hurricane Helene. We have the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus by simply giving from our hearts to strangers we may never meet. We will be working with our denomination's disaster response team, Mission to North America Disaster Response.
Here are the main ways our church will be participating in hurricane relief:
- Flood Buckets: We will be taking financial gifts for these and sending the money to the MNA warehouse. They will buy the supplies and volunteers will assemble them there. Approximate cost to fill each bucket is $65. When giving for this please indicate "Flood Bucket" with the gift so we can earmark the monies for this specifically and the warehouse can buy the supplies to fill buckets.
- Bedding Kits: We would like for our families to gather these supplies themselves and bring to the church. These are full/double flat sheets ONLY, no fitted sheets. Please heed the packing instructions on the website for this item as it will allow for efficient transport. When we have a good supply we can transport them to the warehouse. Approximate cost per kit is $50.
- Construction supplies: If you wish to donate good-quality, heavy duty crow bars you may bring them to the church and we will get them to the warehouse. These are approximately $20 at Home Depot. You can also bring plastic safety goggles as used in landscaping and construction. Approximate cost is $5 per pair.
- Financial donations: You can donate directly to MNA Disaster Response here. Or you can give through our church here. (If giving through our church, please select hurricane relief income from the "Fund" menu.)
If you want to volunteer to go and serve, click here. Be aware there is a background criminal check to comply with the PCA child safety protocols. They collect names and will let you know if and when they need your strong back and willing heart.
Thank you for your interest. We would love to gather an initial donation, products and money, by October 20 so our Deacons can deliver them to the warehouse on the 21st. Please remember this is going to be a long and difficult process for those affected and we will have opportunities to serve for months and years. This is a marathon and not a sprint. And please continue to pray for all involved - those affected, volunteers, truck drivers, emergency workers, utility workers, pastors and congregations.
